Field Office: Young Builders Bookmobile is a mobile library/artwork that houses children’s books and toys about architecture, building and construction. The project is a collaboration between artist Allan Wexler and SACRA (The Society for the Advancement of Construction-Related Arts.) This Field Office travels into neighborhoods, offering inspiration and insights. It draws in families and individuals to ignite a curiosity about our built environment by offering a selection of specially chosen books and toys to be appreciated on site. The mobile library’s interior is fitted with SACRA team’s hand-built desk and shelving for books and toys. Field Office is a labor of love, created and constructed by residents of Buffalo as they learn the skills of building; all the time understanding that not only are we building spaces, we are building community.
